St.Colmcille's Nursing and Convalescent Home
Caroline Day, Manager, welcomes you to St Colmcille's Nursing and Convalescent Home. Established in February 1999 it is a single-storey purpose-built dwelling offering every luxury and convenience for up to 42 Residents. It is North Eastern Health Board approved and registered. St Colmcille's Nursing Home is a teaching nursing home and is affiliated with Iona College, Kells, Co Meath. Students taking FETAC courses undertake clinical work experience at St Colmcille's Nursing Home. This ensures that evidence based practice is continually updated. LocationSt Colmcille's Nursing and Convalescent Home is built in a rural setting overlooking the heritage town of Kells, Co Meath, and gets its name from St Colmcille, a native of Kells. It is located on the Oldcastle Road, giving easy access to Kells, Navan, Cavan, Mullingar and Dublin. It is approximately one mile from the town centre-a healthy walk for Residents who enjoy a little exercise. The establishment is set amid picturesque landscaped gardens with excellent views of the surrounding countryside.Provision of CareThe aim of the team at St Colmcille's Nursing and Convalescent Home is to provide a first-class standard of care for Residents in a friendly environment. All residents are individually assessed prior to, or at the time of admission, and a plan of care is negotiated on an individual basis which best suits their needs. Care is provided by a Registered Nurse and FETAC qualified carers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Dr Mary Coffey, Kells is the resident GP who tends to residents' medical needs and there is a 'Doctor on Call'service for emergency and out of hours service. Vacancies in the Nursing Home are offered to clients requiring short and long term care. Specialist care is negotiable.Accomodation and ServicesFacilities offered at St Colmcille's Nursing and Convalescent Home include double and single bedrooms with or without ensuite shower rooms. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated to the highest standards and provide night lighting, nurse call system, telephone and television points. Ther is a spacious dining room adjacent to the kitchen, two comfortable sitting rooms with access to the patio where Residents can relax or join in daily pleasure activities. There is also an Oratory where Mass is celebrated weekly.
